It’s Fall-tastic around here and I’m loving it. Fall festivals, pumpkin patches, apple picking, hayrides…it’s the best.
Can you believe next week is already Halloween? I’m so not ready. I have a half-eaten bag of candy and a few pumpkins scattered about. I’m not a huge fan of buying a ton of decorations that have to be stored all year so I opt for either natural or homemade things like these cute upcycled Halloween décor ideas.
My kids love making spooky things for Halloween. We made these life sized skeletons. It was so easy, all you need is masking tape and black paint. I broke out the Usborne See Inside Your Body Book and boom – it was a learning experience. My biggest guy dug this website for labeling/assembling the skeleton. We also did some leaf identification with a printable like this one.
Have you tried marble painting with your kids? So fun! We made spider webs.
Fall is a great time for healthy food, too. Root vegetables, soups & stews, yum! I made the most divine roasted beets for lunch today. All you do is peel & chop your beets, pop them in the oven @ 450 degrees for about 40 minutes. Finish off with a few minutes of broiling to make them crispy. Toss with sea salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder and voila. Amazing.
These healthy crockpot meals are on my list to make.
The crazy tale of the week is running in a team marathon (8 weeks post partum) with a group of friends I haven't seen in 15 years. It was so fun! Especially the getting together with old friends (well not “old” friends, but friends from the past). It made me want to understand why it does the heart so much good to get together with a bunch of girlfriends. There’s actual research that proves we need our lady friends. Yay! I knew it. That’ll be an upcoming post.
In the meantime, here’s a post you may have missed that’s all about food allergies. Doesn’t it seem like everyone is wondering about this right now? There were basically no allergies when we were kids, what happened?
That's it for now. Have a great week!
