An advisory board. Everyone needs one. It’s your personal, hand-picked group that you turn to when trying to make a decision. They save you from never ending mental ping-pong games and unhelpful pro-con lists.
They don’t u-turn the conversation to make it about themselves. They don’t authoritatively tell you what you must do. They don’t evoke fear with worst-case scenario answers. They don’t say “uh-huh” while looking at their phone instead of at you while you’re talking.
They listen. They ask questions. And they ultimately guide the conversation so that you can make the decision for yourself.
In the end, they support your decision. “I told you so” is not in their vocabulary.
Choose them wisely.
